The First REMA 1000 Implementation With FREOR Refrigeration Equipment

REMA 1000 is a supermarket chain with over 1000 stores across Norway and Denmark. In partnership with NordDisk, the first REMA 1000 store in Halden, Norway, was recently implemented with a Hydroloop Glycol cooling system. The supermarket’s goal of simplicity, reflected in its slogan, “The simple is often the best,” led to the search for a simple yet efficient cooling solution for its store.

Simple yet efficient Hydroloop cooling system

With simplicity being the best strategy, REMA 1000 went with the FREOR Hydroloop Glycol cooling solution. The system is simple to install, does not require certified refrigeration experts, and offers easy maintenance. Every refrigeration equipment in the system operates as a separate unit, resulting in high reliability and flexibility. This allows for the replacement or addition of more components or refrigeration units without stopping the whole system or the store.

Operating with natural propane (R290) gas refrigerant, the Hydroloop Glycol system features significant energy efficiency. The environmentally friendly propyl glycol solution in the system allows the reuse of the excess condensation heat to warm up the store during cold weather or to remove it through liquid pipes to the exterior of a building during warmer days. In a colder climate country like Norway, the possibility of reusingthe heat to warm up the store plays a big advantage, lowering operational supermarket costs.
