From C to B Energy Class – Up to 45% More Efficient IDA QB Self-Service Counter

In today’s retail environment, where energy costs are rising and sustainability targets are tightening, everyone is looking for energy-efficient commercial refrigeration solutions. FREOR reengineers its products to meet this demand without compromising performance, visibility, or design.
IDA QB self-service counter features 360° product visibility, making it a perfect solution for high-traffic retail areas. It operates on an autonomous Plug & Cool cooling system with environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant, making it already an energy-efficient cooling solution, but there is always room for improvement.
To address the energy efficiency challenge directly, the IDA QB counter was reengineered to deliver up to 45% greater energy efficiency than previous models. It redefines what retailers can expect from refrigerated displays, combining advanced technology with real-world operational savings.
Improved Glass Wall Insulation
The new IDA QB design features insulated glass units (IGUs) that look like glass but offer better thermal efficiency, maintaining the same excellent product visibility. The insulated glass units are not drilled to the self-service counter, as they are supported by a metal frame, which allows the use of high-performance IGUs with a low-emissivity (low-e) coating, greatly improving thermal efficiency.
Underneath the bottom , XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) foam insulation is used, providing excellent thermal resistance. The insulated glass unit is installed in a special construction, keeping the argon gas well sealed and reducing the risk of leakage, while maintaining long-term insulation performance.
FREOR-manufactured Glass Lids for Smarter Structural Design
For even higher energy efficiency, the IDA QB counter is equipped with FREOR in-house-manufactured glass lids, which are specifically designed for the IDA QB counter, ensuring a more precise fit and better sealing. That significantly reduces cold air loss and prevents warm air from entering the product display.
Premium Stainless Steel Construction
Complementing its technical improvements, the IDA QB self-service counter features a stainless steel exterior and interior, a design increasingly favored in modern environments. Stainless steel not only has a sleek, professional appearance, but it also offers superior durability, hygiene, and ease of maintenance. This makes it ideal for high-traffic areas, ensuring the unit performs efficiently while complementing the supermarket’s environment.
Proven Energy Performance
The IDA QB self-service counter, operating with R290 refrigerant, delivers significantly improved insulation, durability, and energy efficiency through its reengineered design with smarter structural solutions.
These gains are not just theoretical – they are confirmed by extensive testing in the FREOR laboratory, with up to 45% lower energy consumption results.
| Model | Old consumption (kWh/24h) | New consumption (kWh/24h) |
| IDA QB GD 1250 | 3.6 | 2.12 |
| IDA QB COMPACT GD 900 | 2.2 | 1.48 |

The IDA QB self-service counter represents a new standard for refrigerated display solutions, where energy efficiency, smart engineering, and excellent product visibility needs come together in one design. This new, improved IDA QB model enables retailers to reduce operating costs while improving performance and sustainability. It is not just an upgrade in design – it is a step forward in how modern food retail manages energy with promotional self-service counters.
