Elevating the Shopping Experience in IKI Supermarket with NDL Refrigeration Equipment

The IKI supermarket chain in Lithuania, belonging to the REWE retail group, was the first to demonstrate complete trust in the FREOR NEW DESIGN LINE (NDL) commercial refrigeration equipment. The chain began implementing this equipment in its new and refurbished stores from the very first moment.

Earlier this year, IKI opened a new supermarket in Europa, one of the most prominent shopping centers in Vilnius, to cater to the needs of busy city center business people.

Refrigeration needs for the busy supermarket

The new supermarket was designed with the needs of busy city center residents in mind. The layout and product assortment were created to make it easy for customers to find what they need, especially during the busy lunchtime. While aiming for a simple layout, the chain also wanted to maintain a stylish store design that would complement the appearance of the entire shopping center. The highly versatile NDL refrigeration equipment was the perfect choice to fulfill this vision. Its modern design, featuring straight lines and sharp corners, created a sophisticated and elevated supermarket look while maintaining the desired simplicity.

Implemented NDL refrigeration equipment

The most popular NDL refrigeration solution, the seamlessly connected multideck NDL JUPITER and upright freezer NDL ERIDA duo line, was implemented next to the wall, effectively utilizing the space. This duo line offers a convenient shopping experience, allowing a smooth transition from frozen products such as pizza, dumplings, or pastries to complementary fresh dairy products and meat. The NDL JUPITER multidecks were also used individually in other fresh product sections in the store, maintaining the same design.

Furthermore, the store has placed the NDL PLUTON SPACE semi verticals at the front of the store to showcase fresh grab & go products. This thoughtful placement ensures excellent visibility of the products and the surroundings, thanks to medium height of the cabinets, enhancing the overall shopping experience.

For a dynamic display of promotional products, the NDL IDA QB and NDL IDA QB H1 self-service counters were strategically placed around the store. These counters, designed to draw attention to the products, play a crucial role in boosting sales by ensuring that customers keep finding promoted products while shopping.

NDL VEGA SPACE QB serve-overs, including LG (low-glass) and HG (high-glass) models, were multiplexed into one line to showcase fresh meat and fish products.

All implemented NDL commercial refrigeration equipment fulfills all the needs of the busy supermarket located in the city center while elevating the supermarket’s appearance. The equipment is connected to the centralized remote cooling system operating with CO₂ (R744) refrigerant, making it an environmentally friendly and future-proof cooling solution.
